Industry and Education Integration Qingdao Base

On March 24, 2019, Shandong University of Art and Design signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Administrative Committee of Qingdao West Coast New Area; On December 26, the two parties signed a formal agreement to jointly build Qingdao Campus of Shandong University of Art and Design. On February 11, 2020,Industry and Education Integration Qingdao Basewas officially approved by the ShandongProvincial Department of Education.

The construction of Qingdao Campus adopts the mode of“simultaneously promoting the school-running during the transitional period and the building of the first-phase campus”in accordance with the cooperation and co-construction agreement. The transitional period will last 2 years. The campus is located in Haichuang Town, West Coast New Area. The plan is to enroll 500 students and a faculty between 50 to 80. On October 11, 2020, nearly 200 freshmen from 5 disciplines of the Class of 2020 officially enrolled in the transitional campus.

The first phase of Qingdao Campus covers an area of 142 mu (approximately 94,667 square meters), with the building area of about 125,000 square meters. Qingdao West Coast Development (Group) Co., Ltd. will be responsible for the construction, and Qingdao Urban Architectural Design and Research Institute will undertake the planning and design work. The construction is scheduled to be completed in July 2022.

The Campus is managed and operated by an administrative committee, which consists of 4 offices: general management office, instructional affairs office, student affairs office and infrastructure office.

The Campus consists of 5 academic institutions: School of Film Industry, School of Ship Design, School of Fashion and Performance, School ofCreative Designand School of InternationalEducation. And there are 3 research institutions: SCO Art and Design Research Institute, Film Industry Research Institute and ShipDesign Research Institute.
