School of Fashion Design
The School of Fashion Design，founded in 1983，has 39 teachers, including 4 professors and 8 associate professors. Theschool consists of 4 disciplines: Fashion and Costume Design, Fashion Design and Engineering, Performance (Costume Performance), and Dance Performance. Costume and Costume Design is rated as the "National First-class disciplines"; Costume Design and Engineering and Costume Performance are rated as "Shandong Provincial First-class disciplines". Fashion Custom Design, Fashion Marketing and Image Design are three provincial first-class courses newly established in 2019.
The school boasts good experimental training conditions, including virtual simulation experiment, comprehensive laboratory, special laboratory, dance performance classroom, multi-functional exhibition hall, photography classroom, costume rehearsal hall, physical classroom, which provide good environments and conditions for students to carry out practical training and experiments.
Adhering to the principle of integrating industry, academia and research, the school pays attention to the important role that the scientific research plays on teaching work and has gained a number of high-quality research results. Professional teachers have published more than one hundred high-quality research papers, more than 10 key teaching materials and nearly 40 important invention patents. They have undertaken the Art Project of National Social Science Fund of China, the key project of Shandong Social Science Fund, the key project of Shandong Teaching Reform and won many provincial and ministerial awards for excellent teaching and research achievements. They have participated in the "World Expo", "the National Games”, "SCO Qingdao Summit”, "The 10th China Arts Festival" and many other national and provincial major projects, and won more than one hundred provincial and municipal awards.
The school emphasizes on the cultivation of talents in the field of international fashion and actively carries out international exchange in teaching. It has already carried out long-term cooperation course exchange with Parsons School of Design in the United States, Yonsei University in Korea, Campania University in Italy, Queensland School of Art of Griffith University in Australia, etc. In this way, the School has cultivated and built a number of "first-class" courses, and has successfully held several times of Fashion Week in Shandong University of Art and Design (Jinan).
With strong professional background, the School of Fashion Design has made great achievements in teaching, scientific research, creation and social service in recent years, providing more opportunities for graduates to find employment and start their own businesses. The employment rate of students is over 95%.
