The “2022 International Industrial Design Workshop” was launched on October 4, 2022 and came to a successful end on January 14, 2023. This workshop was hosted by the Design Literacy International Network and organized by Shandong University of Art and Design (SUAD) International Office.

The SUAD team was led by Mr. Lin Yufeng and Ms. Tang Chaoying, and participated by 19 undergraduate and graduate students from Product System Design Studio, Industrial Design School. During the fifteen weeks, the SUAD team conducted 15 online sessions with faculty and students from the Middle East Technical University in Turkey, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, University College Dublin in Ireland, Università degli Studi Suor Orsola Benincasa in Italy, and University of Navarra in Spain.

The workshop was organized and coordinated by SUAD professor, Erik Bohemia, and delivered in the form of lectures, practice and critiques. The theme was “Designing Gifts for Family Members”. Students from the six universities were divided into different groups and worked as designers and customers respectively, gaining a broader international perspective and practical understanding of systemic product design.
