From January 18th to 21st, Prof. Pan Lusheng, President of Shandong University of Art and Design (SUAD), paid an intercollegiate visit to Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST). Mr. Pang Chuan, Vice President of MUST, met with President Pan and his delegation, and conducted an in-depth discussion on deepening cooperation and talent training between the two universities. Professor Zhang Zhiqing, Dean of School of Humanities and Arts of MUST and Professor Wang Xueqing attended the event.

Vice President Pang extended a warm welcome to President Pan’s visit during the meeting. He introduced that with the strong support of the central government and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government, MUST has become the largest comprehensive university in Macao and the youngest top 100 universities in cross-strait area, as well as in Hong Kong and Macao after 20 years of development. MUST lays emphasis on enhancing students’ ability of professional learning and comprehensively improving students’ overall quality. It has cultivated a large number of graduates with social recognition, practical ability and strong initiative, and contributed to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Macao’s integration into the national scientific research and innovation system.

President Pan thanked Vice President Pang for his hearty welcome. He pointed out that in the past 20 years since its establishment, MUST has made outstanding contributions to the educational cause and economic development of Macao through actively introducing excellent talents from home and abroad to set up high-quality research teams for promoting technological innovation and the transformation of scientific research achievements. President Pan introduced the achievements made by SUAD in recent years, including deepening top-level design, refining school-running characteristics, strengthening discipline and specialty construction, promoting the reform of talent training mode, enhancing the national industry and education integration project as well as base construction. President Pan expressed his hope to give full play to the advantages of both sides, promote interdisciplinary integration and the transformation of innovative design by deepening the academic exchanges and talent training cooperation between universities, so as to jointly explore the path to promote the development of design discipline and design education in the new era. The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on the compilation of the Macao volume of Integration of Chinese Folk Crafts.

After the meeting, President Pan went to the School of Humanities and Arts of MUST for investigation, and communicated with Dean Zhang Zhiqing, Professor Wang Xueqing and Course Director Huang Guanghui, as well as visited the metal and wooden processing laboratory. He also visited the exhibition of graduate works held in the Art Museum of MUST.
