A film-and-television creative team from the Qingdao Base of Industry-Education Integration at Shandong University of Art & Design (SUAD) has been featured on Midnight News on CCTV-13. Using AIGC technology, the faculty-and-student team produced an ink-wash, Chinese-style animated short film, The Eight Immortals Cross the Sea, a fresh digital retelling of a classic Shandong coastal legend. Grounded in traditional ink-wash aesthetics, the work blends AI tools with classical imagery to express the region’s maritime culture and won a third prize at the first Shandong AI Film and Television Competition.
