SUAD Library
The Library, established in 1982, comprises two parts, one on Changqing District Campus and the other on Qianfo Mountain Campus. The former, formally put into use in August, 2006, was upgraded and transformed in October, 2019. Covering a total construction area of 13,000 square meters, the library is equipped with over 450 seats for reading and self-study. Now with a staff of 33, it contains General Office,Acquisition and Cataloging Department, Technology Department, Circulation Department, Reading Department and Reference Service Department.
Today, the Library owns more than 730,000 paper books, 1,190,000 e-books, 597 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals, with more than 10 databases purchased such as CNKI and World’s Art Library, and has built its own subject navigation, postgraduate dissertation database and other databases with unique features as well. The construction of library resources focuses on the school discipline layout, and highlights the characteristics of art design discipline; therefore, it lays great emphasis on the collection of professional books such as art theory, painting, sculpture, photography, arts, architectural design, film and television art, as well as social science books, thus forming a research-level library system with professional features. The Library is equipped with advanced automatic management system, mobile library, RFID self-help borrowing and returning as well as 3D positioning system, together with exhibition hall, study room, multi-functional seminar room, academic lecture hall etc., so as to spread campus culture and integrate them into teaching, scientific research and talent training through exhibitions, lectures, training and other means.
SUAD Library highlights its functions of cultivating people with service, management and environment, lays a solid foundation, adheres to its development with characteristics, strives to innovate service means, expands service field, thus aiming to become the University’s center for literature guarantee, academic exchange and cultural communication and provide strong guarantee for the University’s discipline construction and talent cultivation.
